Summary
A poignant manga, portraying the story of the movie with the same title.

The movie tells the story of Taishin Mamiya, a magazine editor who meets and interviews a young model, Noeru Kisaragi, and becomes sinfully attracted to him. Their love, however, is forbidden.

Review

I was surprise when I found out about this manga. I've watched the movie years ago and enjoyed it a lot even though it was sad. So this manga I thought would be simlar. The story line is exactly the same making me enjoy it more.

Taishin is a great and caring guy. He is a bit slow and nave when he meets Noeru. He doesn't know what to do with him but soon he finds himself unable to stand by and watch Noeru do things that are wrong. Noeru with his troubled past is looking in the wrong place to forget about it and Taishin in some way helps him.

They have a cute releationship and I wish the manga was longer. If I had to choose which I liked more the manga or the movie I would say the movie because there seem to be more of a story with the characters plus the ending though sad was much better then the manga.

Summary
Professional rivalry, mistaken identities, unrequited love, and jealousy test Shinkawa's and Takaaki's friendship on a semi-regular basis. But when Iwaki Kyousuke, Takaaki's old flame and mentor, returns to seduce Shinkawa away to a new host club, will Takaaki be able to persuade Shinkawa to stay, or will his devotion to Iwaki cause him to lose Shinkawa's partnership?

Review

I really did enjoy this manga. It had a good mixture of dynamic characters and great love scenes. Each volume brought a interesting story line that made me want to keep reading it.

Shinkawa and Takaaki are our main characters they work in the world of host or in other words gigolo's.While Takaai is all into his work leaving his personal life at home Shinkawa is the oppisite which causes a lot of drama for the two of them.

I had one problem with this manga is in the fact that I felt no love between Shinkawa's and Takaaki's. They seem more like sex buddies then lovers. No matter how much I was into the story i didn't like them as a couple. I did like the other characters and I found i wanted more story of those characters then with the two main ones. Sadly not all of my wanted pairings end up together in the end. That's just how manga's or even novel's go. The best stories leave you guessing and the end couple may not  be what you have pictured.

Summary
Ten-year-old Elvis Jones is tired of being picked on, taunted, and teased by the bullies at his elementary school, so he does what any smart, technologically brilliant kid his age would do: he creates EKHO, the Evil Kid Hunting Organization, a sophisticated network of kid spies and secret agents that utilize a variety of cool gadgets to stay one step ahead of the enemy – the bullies. They hire kids, make them swear allegiance to the organization, and train them as Commandos, Privates, and Elite Spies. As kids rise through the ranks, the missions, posted on an encrypted EKHO website, require more smarts and skill, especially when the bullies form their own counterspy group called DEKE (Destroy EKHO Kids Everywhere).

It’s all in good fun, until the kids of EKHO must put their pretend skills to use for far more serious, and dangerous, missions. As field agents come across evidence of more sinister forces, they now have to deal with the strange, weird, and the unknown as they look for the truth about the bizarre and creepy threats to their school, their families, and their own lives. They experience betrayal, intrigue, infiltration and counter-espionage as well as teachers and adults who act more mysterious with each passing day, which leaves Elvis and his EKHO team wondering: who can you trust when the person standing next to you might not be entirely human?

Summary
We didn’t know how much we had to lose until we were infected with magic. Sam was in love, Juliette was the main caretaker for her siblings, and Ana and her dad planned the best parties in New York. But we lost it all when we were shipped to Chebeague, an exclusive school for newly infected mages.

Everyone knows about the mages, those who survive the infection and end up with magical abilities. We’ve seen the power of magic, the high-paying jobs, and the world fame. But we never saw the cost. We didn’t know we’d be forced to give up everything: sanity, family, even the right to talk on the phone.

We didn’t know mage was just another word for prisoner.

Excerpt

“I’ll find a way to help you. I promise,” I said to Ana.

That was when they kicked the door open.

Anastasia and I jumped to our feet. A ball of energy hit me square in the chest, knocking me hard into the wall behind me. Stars exploded behind my eyes. Before I could even cry out in pain, they were on me, wrenching my arms behind my back. As they dragged me from the room, Dr. Tanga straightened from where she’d been bent over Anastasia. Clear liquid dripped off the tip of a syringe.

My whole body was numb. My vision kept coming in bits and flashes. I had impressions of bright lights, of worn carpet sliding beneath my dangling feet. Hands clutched tight at my elbows. There was a flash of pain when they dropped me to the ground. My head lolled, taking in the ceiling of the theatre, and then the faces of the others: Sam shocked, Sebastian’s mouth in a thin line, Dr. Felix looking like a marble statue, Ana slumped to the floor across the room. Dr. Mercer, running in, tie flapping over his shoulder, Zach close behind. And then Dr. Child, his face inches from mine, his mouth moving.

Everything still seemed so distant. His voice was dulled by a sound like the rushing of wind past my ears. I began to shiver uncontrollably. And then, in a flash, his voice came back.

“… will make sure of it, I swear to you. Do you understand me, Juliette? If you infect Anastasia, if by intent or by chance any piece of your magic touches her, you will never see your family again.”

Panic exploded from me. My world had once again gone silent, but my mouth was open and my throat aching, so I knew I must be whimpering or screaming. I rolled into a ball and clutched my head in my hands.

These past few weeks, once I knew I’d never see my sister and brother again, I’d pushed the knowledge down. And now it all came rushing back: the visions of Charlie and Georgie alone, without any love or attention. Visions of them growing up neglected, just like me. And the crushing guilt that this was all my fault, that if only I’d run instead of staring entranced at the colors, then I’d be at home, safe, caring for the people who needed me most.

Color swirled behind my eyes, the very echo of what I’d seen in New Orleans. I heard a crackling, a hum, and the sound of people shouting. And then something crashed nearby, and I wrenched my eyes open. The colors were there, filling up the theatre. And they were coming from me.

Summary
Since the age of ten, Mia has lived under the iron fist of the fundamentalist preacher who lured her mother away to join his fanatical family of followers. In Edenton, a supposed “Garden of Eden” deep in the South American jungle, everyone follows the Reverend’s strict but arbitrary rules—even the mandate of whom they can marry. Now sixteen, Mia dreams of slipping away from the armed guards who keep the faithful in, and the curious out. When the rebellious and sexy Gabriel, a new boy, arrives with his family, Mia sees a chance to escape.

But the scandalous secrets the two discover beyond the compound’s façade are more shocking than anything they ever imagined. While Gabriel has his own terrible secrets, he and Mia bond together, more than friends and freedom fighters. But is there time to think of each other as they race to stop the Reverend’s paranoid plan to free his flock from the corrupt world? Can two teenagers crush a criminal mastermind? And  who will die in the fight to save the ones they love from a madman who’s only concerned about his own secrets?

Review (edit coming soon)
I never expect this book to be what it was. I thought it would be a dystopian futuristic type of deal but it wasn’t it was a cult of followers and a bad cult at that. Full of suspense and adventure it really drew me in and I loved every moment.
It through me for a loop when I realized the type of society called Edenton that Mia and her family was living in. I always found cults creepy and don’t want to know about them but this Edenton it surprised me how people let the person in charge do whatever he wanted to them.  Whether it was killing them or punishing them, they stood there and watched. Of coarse this society is located Spain far from anyone so no one can help these characters, which annoyed me most, but I’m glad it was our main character Mia and Gabriel who stood up to these people.
Mia really is a brave girl she asked questions when she shouldn’t and she even went against the rules. Most of the time the rule breaking was due to Gabriel. Despite how brain washed everyone was she kept true to her heart and fought the wrong doings of the place.
Gabriel well to describe what he is he’s mostly a stubborn brat. Though even though he has those quality’s he is a good guy. He never liked Edenton when he got there so right from the beginning he fought against the guards which was funny at times. And Despite his tough past Mia changes him for the better. I love his character and I love how both characters react to one another.
There was some romance in it and I loved the scenes shared between Gabriel and Mia. It was both cute and fun seeing them together.  Though during a few scenes it did go a bit far before it stop and I had to head desk a few times because I wanted there to be more romance.
Escape from Eden is a great book full of thrilling adventure. I really enjoyed this book and anyone who loves a good dystopian/cult book should pick this up and read how these characters fight against the people in charge.

Hi. I’m Elisa. I like cheese and reading and TV show marathons. Writing is scary, but not as scary as, say, Civil War amputations. I’m an Aquarius. Uh… let’s see… I’m not very good at writing my own biography. Or autobiography. I guess this is reading more like a slightly incoherent personal ad.

Summary
Sixteen-year-old streetwise orphan, Jax Stone is an expert at surviving in a dangerous city, where rats rival the homeless for food and shelter, but she’s an amateur at fighting the immoral mayor when he kidnaps her little brother. Desperation demands she quickly master the role of courageous opponent. She uses her hypnotic singing voice to lead rats to their death, and all the children to safety, in a dying city cursed by the deadly sun.

Review
“RATGIRL: Song of the Viper” is a unique title for a book, but the contents found within the novel - many will see why the name fits it. This book is a remake of an old fairy tale that takes setting in the future, but this ultimately only makes it more amazing.

This story revolves around the main character, Jax - a human female – that lives in a world over run by rats. She, along with other humans, live in the underground networks of the city and only travel at night to collect wares they find suited for trading. There is one character though that doesn't have this problem, and this would be the mayor of the city. The mayor is a dirty rich snob who will take anything he wants, and kill anything that may stand in his way. Jax, being the tough and spunky girl she is, stands up to the mayor and rats, all for the sake of her family that she has created in this corrupted world; that one detail helps me connect to the female protagonist, as I would do anything for the sake of my family. Jax is not alone in the fight as she has her friends Rafe and Colt, a boy that moved from Antarctica to her city for trading purposes, to stand by her side and fight those that wish to stop her.

There are a few components in this book that kinda turn the reader off sometimes. One component is the romance – it moved way too fast, but I let it slide as the book was partly romance based and more about adventure. There are some parts where she goes into costume and resulted with me just stopping to stare at the paragraph I read. A few things that bugged me were the lack of explanations given about certain situations. How did Jax and Rafe become friends? Why was Antarctica having times of summer, when it is a place that remains a winter wonderland? So many of these can be considered plot holes and tends to ruin the book if you linger on them.

Putting those to the side, the book still remained a good find and I do recommend this to anyone who loves dystopian books. It’s different and a cute remake of a child's story.

Praise
“There’s no one more qualified to write a rock-and-roll novel than Greg Kihn. He’s the real deal and at his Kihntillating best in this book.” – Guy Kawasaki, former chief evangelist of Apple

“Rubber Soul is a magical mystery tour de force by Greg Kihn, a rocker who obviously has a way with words as well as music. His imagined story about the Beatles is fast-moving, full of twists and tension, and musical nuggets and insights. Great story-telling set to a Fab-four beat.” – Ben Fong Torres

“Rubber Soul captures what Rock-n-Roll is all about – and Greg Kihn would certainly know! This nearly-true story of the Beatles is pure magic and I couldn’t turn the pages fast enough.” – Eddie Money

“Greg Kihn is the most compelling author who ever had a top five singing career. Rubber Soul is a fantastic story by Greg, with an historical back beat. I urge you not to miss this.” – Joan Jett

“I’m happy to report that Rubber Soul, the latest work by my pal Greg Kihn, has correct punctuation, complete sentences, even full paragraphs – some of the exact same literary devices that can be found in the greatest novels our culture has ever produced! It’s also written in English, which happens to be one of my very favorite languages.” – “Weird Al” Yankovic

“While the RIAA may not be able to certify Kihn’s work with a gold disc, fans of Kihn and The Beatles, as well as those who long for the simpler yet magical time of the 1960’s will thoroughly enjoy and fall in love with Rubber Soul. They certainly don’t write ‘em like this anymore.” – Chris Shapiro, RetroPulse

Author
Greg Kihn

gregNBC called Greg Kihn “Rock’s True Renaissance Man” and for good reason. As part of the eponymous band he has: toured the globe, had hit records, been inducted into the San Jose Rock Hall Of Fame, opened for the Rolling Stones and jammed with Bruce Springsteen. You may have heard of his smash worldwide #1 hit “Jeopardy” and “The Breakup Song”, not to mention the parody written by Weird Al Yankovic. Being a famous and successful rock star is only one part of the mosaic that is Greg’s story. In the 90s Greg poured his passion for lyrics into writing fiction—publishing four novels, one of which “Horror Show” was nominated for the prestigious Bram Stoker Award for Best First Novel. In this vein, Greg merged his love of writing with Rock and Roll and wrote “Rubber Soul”—a unique rock murder mystery featuring The Beatles. The inspiration for this novel came from Greg’s interviews with Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, Pete Best, Yoko Ono and Patti Harrison. In this way Greg gained exclusive access to the biggest band ever to exist. “Rubber Soul” is a work of fiction, but it is 100% historically accurate and a story that only rock veteran Greg Kihn could have written.
