Summary
The students of Green Lane Academy roam their halls unaware that below their manicured campus exists a prestigious school of an entirely different kind . . .

Sixteen-year-old Phoebe Pope has enrolled at the Campus Below: a spy academy for shape-shifters hidden deep beneath the grounds of a boarding school whose humans unknowingly protect it. There, thanks to a carefully planned schedule, she leads a double life: spy trainee Below and normal teenager Above.

As if two course loads, concealing a secret power she alone wields, and coping with her father’s recent death weren’t enough, Phoebe finds herself developing major feelings for actor and teen heartthrob Colten Chase, who attends the Campus Above and appears to be majoring in winning Phoebe’s heart. But when officials learn that Phoebe may be at the center of a startling prophecy, she becomes the target of shape-shifting assassins who will stop at nothing to suppress the truth.

Now Phoebe’s lessons about Shaper’s enemies and spycraft take on great importance as a menace stalks the campus, with Phoebe as its target. Meanwhile, what began as an unlikely relationship with Colten, quickly morphs into heartache when she suspects that something sinister lurks beneath this movie star’s glitter and fame. Suddenly, Phoebe’s caught in a mesh of lies, betrayals, and danger where she doesn’t know who to trust, and needs to rely on herself—and her secret power—to get to the truth and to stay alive.

One
Phoebe was too far away to sense whether the boy had one heart or two. Through the maze of trees with clattering leaves, she could see him moving with purposeful speed. He was headed toward her destination—a brownstone chapel perched at the top of a small hill. Not knowing the boy’s nature made Phoebe hesitate. Then came the sound of tower bells. Eight o’clock. There was no time to think of an alternate route. She was officially late for the Conversion.

A loud, echoing crack quickened Phoebe’s pace as lightning slashed the indigo sky above her. She had barely reached the base of the hill when rain began pounding down. Clutching the camera that hung from the strap around her neck, she sprinted the final stretch, arriving breathless.

Phoebe wiped the rain from her face, and then entered the chapel. Inside, light from moon-facing windows cast a misty glow across the sanctuary, the air redolent with the smoke of a blazing fireplace. She glanced around the heart of the nondenominational Green Lane Academy. It seemed so ordinary, so quiet, even peaceful. Rows of pews with velvet cushions ran the width of the room. She moved between them, taking care to remain in the shadows. An irregular shape in a dark corner caught her eye and Phoebe could just barely make out the outline of the boy. He knelt with his head between his hands, his body huddled against a pew. Praying.

Phoebe paused several feet away and waited. After a moment she felt energy seeping from the boy’s skin, raising the hairs on hers. Cold and electric, it meant one thing: the boy had only one heart. She couldn’t risk him seeing what she had come there to do. That meant waiting. Just then, something stirred behind her.

Review
I was a bit disappointed with this manga. It was a manga I went looking for because I heard it was good. I didn’t expect to be so confused while reading it. I didn’t know which character was who. I thought Kabuki was a name of a person, until I learn it was a dance. It was just all over the place a real disappointment that I wouldn’t recommend for anyone. The only thing that was good about this manga. was the story behind one of the characters, who I believe is named Shougo, oh and the sex was great but I have no idea why they moved so fast into that when I didn’t even know that the characters felt the same.
I thought the plot was a bit to fast near the end. It was slow and great at first getting into the background story of a character. Then out of no where two characters confess their love to each other and did it. I understand the why but the how they fell in love with each other is beyond me. Oh I didn’t even bother reading the second story, I just skipped through it because I couldn’t make sense of what they were talking about. Kabuki is still unknown to me only that it’s maybe a dance and there is singing in it and the guys dress up like girls…or maybe they dress like guys but they look like girls to me. I just don’t think the mangaka put to much thought into describing what it was, or to make it easier for people to understand what it was in this yaoi manga.

Design

I thought the design of the characters were great. There was a lot of detail in the hair, face, clothes everything. I just had one major problem and that is a couple of the characters look the same. I couldn't tell who was who until there was another panel where it showed their clothes. I didn't like this and it shows that the mangaka didn't put a lot of effort into showing a different characters. It was a bit annoying and I was a bit glad that the manga ended at volume one.

Excerpt

This is the end of chapter five, after a very intense scene.

Once I shut the door behind me, I felt as if the imaginary director had yelled “cut”, letting me finally involuntarily collapse to my knees. I closed my eyes, sitting on my heels with my hands resting on my thighs, slowly filtering in a shaky breath. What the hell just happened? I wanted to hear Sean’s voice to soothe me, but I didn’t have the strength to grab my phone from inside my purse, which I had thrown to the bed a moment before my collapse.

Suddenly I heard a knock at my door. Damn. I opened my eyes before my hands helped lift me back to my feet. I knew my mom would definitely question me if she found me on the floor like that. I breathed out two deep sighs in order to calm my expression before I was ready. Action, I thought.

“Come in,” I said.

The door opened, but it wasn’t my mother. It was Sean that peeked his head through the frame gap, before stepping inside my room and shutting the door behind him. I didn’t waste the time to rush him. I wrapped my arms underneath his as I laid my head to his chest. The instant warmth of his presence lifted me to a better place.

“I thought you had to work late,” I said.

“I just got back and felt like I should stop by and see you.” I felt him gently pat the back of my hair comfortingly. “Is everything all right?”

“I don’t know how you do it,” I said.

“Do what?”

“Make yourself appear right when I need you. But I’m glad that you do.”

“It’s a gift. Now are you going to tell me what’s wrong?”

I finally stepped back to look up at him. But now in the moment of truth, I knew that I couldn’t say anything. I couldn’t be the reason that Sean lost his friends. But I also knew that was what Ross and Nick were hoping on, and I wasn’t keeping quiet for their sake. I have to tell him. I opened my mouth, but still nothing came out. I curled my fingers into fists, looking for the courage to speak.

“I got . . . ” This was my chance as my tongue lingered with the words. Say it. “Freaked out earlier.”

Sean narrowed his gaze with a prepared anger. “Freaked out by what?”

I gulped, not quite sure why this was so hard to say. I hadn’t even begun to wrap my head around Liam Alexander. “I forgot my purse, and when I went back for it the janitor was really creepy.” I rolled my eyes for dramatics with a small shrug. “But you know how my imagination can be.”

I sighed with the guilt weighing me down like lead. I’ll admit the janitor wasn’t going to be my friend but he didn’t deserve the persona I was building of him. I expected a lecture of any kind for being stupid enough to not bring a friend with me. I even welcomed it in order to serve as punishment for lying.

Instead Sean merely pulled his neck back to gaze at me with his brow lifted. “Are you sure that’s all?”

I nodded, maybe a little too much. It wasn’t as if he knew I was lying but more that I wasn’t telling the truth. Luckily he was choosing to ignore it, and I was grateful.

My eyes shifted to the floor with guilt.

“I know it sounds a bit childish, but would you stay until I fall asleep?”

“Sure,” he said.

I wasn’t sure how long it would take me to fall asleep, but I was glad Sean had stayed to do what he had always done best, protect me. Lucky for him, I would have no problem staying away from Liam Alexander now. I wasn’t even sure where to begin with Liam. My mind could barely decipher the idea of what I had seen, let alone how to articulate it into words.

There must be an explanation for it all, but for now I laid under the covers, moving to curl into Sean, with my head rested on the warmth of his chest. It was like sunshine that radiated around my body. The warmth on my skin was like that sensation of hot water from the shower on a cold day. Just being near him made me feel better.

“Sean,” I said.

“Yeah, Em?”

“I’ll stay away from Liam.”

There was a few seconds of silence where I felt like I could almost see his eyes shift away with a smile of accomplishment.

“Why now? Did something happen with him tonight?”

I shook my head, while my mind knew the opposite. “No, but that doesn’t matter. What matters is that I believe you. There is something strange about him.” I paused to exhale at the memory of tonight. “So, you don’t have to worry about him anymore.”

I thought of how different things would be if Sean had seen what I did. He would surely be even more protective of me. But if he had known, then it would be something he would have already told me.

Even if I knew how hypocritical I seemed by withholding what I had seen tonight.

I felt Sean’s light, comforting kiss on my scalp before he laid his head on top of my own. “Promise?”

I sighed into the warm silence crawling around the two of us.

Daring to contact him, Camille was welcomed by an entire family she never knew existed. But nothing comes without a price, as she discovers when her family claims a legendary heritage tracing back to a Centaur touched by Zeus.

As she learns the secrets of her Centaur bloodline, she is drawn into a forbidden love with Drake. The same person who once held her mother captive, and forced her into decades of hiding, now controls Camille. Her only chance is to seek a piece of her mother’s past that will win her freedom and the life she desperately desires.

Review(edit coming soon)
At this point I have read many different types of Fantasy books. Never have I read something with centaurs in it. They aren’t your normal everyday centers though, these centaurs are actually humans that have powers that came from the gods. Each centaur has a gift, for example: mind reading, telekinesis and even some can see the future.  Its creative of what the author has come up with for her version of centaurs.
Blood Debt centers around a girl named Camille. She has lived with her mother all her life but that came to an end when he mother died. Just before she did she told Camille where he father lives and that she should talk to him. She calls him up and this is where her life changes forever.  She learns that she was never really alone and that she doesn’t only have a father but she also has Five brothers and a step mother that adores her. While visiting them she learns that she isn’t human but actually a Centaur from the Chiron herd (herd meaning family). She learns about all this old tradition the Centaur people go through, for example the fact that women can choose who they are going to marry and the men don’t date or think of any women unless they are choose by a Centauride (female Centaur) . It takes time for Camille to get use to the rules of her new life. She then hears that she has a debt to pay because of her mother and what she did in the past. She doesn’t wish to pay this debt but it’s forced onto her and then it gets more complicated when she meets a Drake who is already chosen by a female and that means she can’t have any contact with him but for some reason she feels attracted to him and he feels the same way.

Camille is strong in her beliefs from how she grew up as a normal human. She thought at first she would like the Centaur life because of her father and step mother and step brothers. Though after learning more about that life she wishes to be human, I can’t blame her being a Centuar is tough and hard to accept that life. She also tries hard to learn what her powers could be. She only knew about her powers recently and even if it takes her a long time she will try her best to learn to control them. Then she meets her grandmother. Camille goes against her grandmother so much that a necklace is placed around her to subdue her and it does for a while.Dispite that small weak moment Camille is a strong person and It makes me excited to see how she will grow more into her Centauride life.

Drake is a great guy, it’s surprising that he goes along with the rules of the Centaur people at first. Actually it makes the men tame come pair to human males. They spend their life alone until Centauride hopefully chooses them. Its almost cute in a way when he first meets Camille and learns that he doesn’t want Bianca who had choosen him, he wants Camille. He doesn’t understand his feelings till a bit later when he learn that he can’t stop thinking about her. I’m glad that in the end he figures out how to be with Camille from a plan Bianca, Gage and him came up with, while Camille was under lock.

Bianca at first you don’t know how she is like but it surprises me a bit to learn that she is a kind person. I though she wouldn’t like how the man she pick would be so into Camille, until you learn why. She wants to be Camille’s friend very badly because Camille might be able to help her be with the real man she loves who is Gage.  She is a great character and helps Camille a lot in the way of letting Camille be with Drake alone.
Gage is a great guy who got twisted up in this thing his dad and Camille’s grandmother planned. He would rather be with Bianca or no one at all. It hurts him to see Bianca be with his best friend Drake but he couldn’t do anything. Then he met Camille and learned from Bianca a plan to get them to be who they want to be with.
From start to finish I never got bored of Blood Debt and I loved every moment of it. I can’t wait to read book two to find out what happens between Camille and Drake.

The breathtaking fourth installment of the New York Times bestselling Shadow Falls series from author C. C. Hunter...Whispers at Moonrise.

Review
It’s been a while since I’ve been this excited to read a book. This forth book of the series was just so good. The storyline for this book was just to great. Every moment of this book was exciting. There was quite a few times it brought me to tears because of the sad scenes that happen in it, doesn’t help that I was reading this book on the subway with tears in my eyes.
Whispers at Moonrise takes place at the camp where Kylie spent most of the summer at. The camps name is Shadow Falls Camp. In this book you see it being turned into a school which Kylie does attend for a while.

Kylie is now struggling with what her ghost father just told her in book three of the shadow falls series.  She now begins to think she’s a lizard, since the name of the supernatural she is, is a Chameleon, she automatically starts to think she’s a lizard because of that name. Even though she knows she’s not really a lizard she still starts to freak out. With that going on Kylie also meets another new ghost. This ghost is different from the others though when she finds out it’s someone who she recognizes and she knows right away that its not good. Speaking to ghosts still make people in Shadow falls camp afraid. It’s unnatural to talk to ghosts according to them she’s weird and yet they are the ones who are vampires, werewolves, etc. With all this going her feelings for Lucas her boyfriend isn’t going well. He’s keeping things from her but she’s no better with keeping facts about the ghosts she’s seeing from him. She can only rely on Holiday because she too can see and speak to ghosts. Only problem with this ghost is that she can’t tell Holiday about it and she can only rely on Derek mostly on this ghost. Kylie is also changing from one Supernatural to the next and it’s just making her more like a freak because she just wishes she can be one supernatural not a whole range that change whenever her brain feels like it. When all of this is going on new teachers appear at Shadow Falls for the school year. She knows that one of the teachers don’t seem quite right and suspects he’s up to something. Maybe even something to do with the new ghost she is seeing that reminds her of someone at camp. She needs to find the person who is going to kill again before it’s to late.

Kylie our main character, hasn’t changed to much from the first three books. She’s still afraid of not know what she really is. She wants to know if she’s a witch, vampire, etc but now that she knows it just makes her more afraid of the dangers she will face and her losing relationship with Lucas. She loves him a lot and even though she has struggled with who she loves in the past three books in this book she knows she has strong feelings for Lucas but doesn’t know how to trust him when he doesn’t open up to her or that he can’t deal with the fact that she can talk to ghosts. She does her best, she doesn’t give up even when she feels hurt she tries to understand it from the others person point of view .

Della is still the head strong vampire from the first book to now. She is protective and looks after Kylie. She also is the same when interacting with Miranda, they always fight and threaten each other but never act on it. They really are friends even if they fight a lot. Della does feel left out when Miranda and Tara have boyfriends but she doesn’t but then she doesn’t try to show her feelings to anyone. It changes a little bit when she realizes a guy does like her.

Miranda still has problems with her magic, for being a witch it's a bit problematic. It’s been that way since the first few books but at least now she can deal with that fact. She doesn't feel as upset and tries her best to do spells and to even fix them. She is now with Perry the shape shifter and she is happy to be with him. She is a good friend to both Tara and Della and she will listen to anything they have to say and they will listen to her.

Holiday is the head person at Shadow Falls camp and soon the be school. She is a Fea and can speak to ghosts as well, that’s why her and Kylie have such a strong connection. She has always felt since the beginning that Kylie and her were friends even more like family. While Holiday helps Kylie figure things out, Kylie also helps Holiday with her feelings for a curtain Vampire.

Derek is our half human half Fea who is a really great person, it makes me sad to see that he does love Kylie and she knows that he loves her but she can’t be with him. Even so he still comes to her when her feelings are all over the place cause he can feel them strongly because of his Fea powers. He is willing to stay by Kylie’s side and just be her friend that’s enough for him. He doesn’t care that she is with Lucas as long as she is happy.

I do like Lucas because he’s a werewolf but he’s not treating Kylie fairly. In the first three books you learn that they have a past together and that Lucas always wished she was a werewolf, but even without that part he still cares about her but now he’s taking their dwindling trust and stretching it to far.  He says he can’t tell her because it will make her more upset so he keeps things from her. Lying is never good in the relationship and even though he tells Kylie he loves her. It doesn’t help when he puts his pack before her. He can’t stand up to her, he can’t sit with her during meals he has to leave her alone. He knows he is hurting her but he’s asking her to hold out a bit longer so that he can get onto the wolf council. Though seriously if you can’t see how much your hurting your girlfriend you have no right to be her boyfriend.

Summary
Hybrids.

If I had to choose one word to sum up all of my problems, this would be it.
Without hybrids, I wouldn’t have to watch my best friend slowly becoming a monster. Without hybrids, I could let go of the mentality “hunt or be hunted.” CHAS wouldn’t be scouring the Earth, intent on slaughtering and using Alex to do it. Without hybrids, I wouldn’t have to be on guard that losing my temper meant losing my shape. There would be no monster inside me, struggling to get out.

Then again, without hybrids, I wouldn’t have Wesley St. John.

Review(edit coming soon...)

Packed full of action and romance, I couldn't get enough of 'Blood Bond'. It was not what I was expecting when I began to read the third book of the series. To learn that Tara is getting closer and closer to turning into a wolf, and that the hybrids (which are usually half hunter/half wolf, but occasionally wolf/human hybrids) are now after her it was just amazing. I did find the bad guy in this book a bit too simple and easy to take care of, so I didn't really care much for the bad guy. The hybrids made up for the poor villain.

The story line mostly takes place at Tara's home, and Jack/Fee's home. This was due to her being grounded after she traveled to Nevada to find someone who could save George.

The story was well paced and exciting. Tara is getting used to her now dangerous life. As summer holidays arrive, she and Cambria plan to stay at her house for the summer. With excitement of seeing Wes again, she can't wait to get home. But, she can't help but feel sad for leaving Alex.  Back at home, with her over controlling mother, she finds peace at Jack and Fee's place. There, she can spend time with her friends and Wes. She learns that George is getting sicker from something Fee gave him to stop him from transforming. It made Tara worry for him, but it became worse when he began to feel stronger. It meant that he was slowly losing his humanity and becoming a wolf. It made Tara more determined to find a way to save him. Its not long before she leaves and learns that Miles (a cousin and bad guy from book two) was telling the truth on how to save George. The only problem now is that they are now bonded, meaning they can feel each others emotions. It could also mean that they're more then just pack members. It's not until later that Tara learns more of what's happening to her and how to save all the Hybrids. The Hybrids are uncontrollable, because of how they don't have their humanity. They lose themselves in what they are doing and only follow one leader, who is making them do bad things. She saves them, but there was huge consequences to that, that your going to have to read to find out.

Tara is frighten about her becoming a werewolf even though it's a part of her. She has grown much stronger as a person, but still has lots of fears to get over. Being afraid of what she's becoming. I guess would be normal for anyone, especially since she doesn't know what her friends and family would think of her. Not what I expected from her at all. She knows Wes is also a werewolf and half Hunter, like her, only he could change into a werewolf a lot longer then her. It's because she only now starts to feel the change coming that makes her fear it. She also is very open with Wes she tells him everything and doesn't lie to him any longer. Tara also meets with another changing situation when she learns what her blood can do and what it can do to save the hybrids.

Wes is his usual strong, protective self, but unlike in the first and second books, he is more trusting of Tara and he will let her do things if she thinks she can do it. He loves her so much that he would never again tell her a lie. He also doesn't become to jealous with Alex any longer, because he knows that Tara loves him more then Alex.

Alex is holding a lot of secrets in this book. His character flip-flops. In the second book, he trained Tara and opened up with her about his past. Now, he keeps changing his story. He makes you believe that he loves Tara despite her being a 'dirty blood' (half werewolf/half hunter), but he hates werewolves and would rather see them dead. Then he saves her and tells her that he is actually been working for Tara's grandmother the whole time and wasn't planning to do any killing. So you start to believe he is a good guy, but the ending will leave you confused with what his real plans and motives are.

Cambria is still Tara's best friend. She supports Tara with the problems with her mom and Wes. She helps Tara come up with plans. Cambria's not perfect though, and she does crack under pressure. She tells people the truth about Tara, but would never turn her back on her.

George use to be human, but after what Miles did to him in book two, he needs Tara's help or he would die. He cares a lot for Tara, even lobing her at one point. He's becoming closer to her as a friend, and even becomes a pack member.

Jack and Fee are leaders to the Cause (to help Hunters and Werewolves work together). They care a lot for Tara, Wes and everyone else that comes to the house. They are like a second parents to everyone they meet, and they know a lot about what happen in the past between Werewolves and Hunters. They are never changing, becoming rocks for the otherwise unstable characters.

With everything going on in Tara's life, there is hardly time for her to have any time alone with Wes. When she does, she almost loses control over herself, due to the strong pull between the two of them. It gets worse later when she learns that after exchanging blood with George, he now feels her emotions. So she can't be with Wes without feeling embarrassment. Oh, and she still cares for Alex. (Come on Tara, this isn't 'Twilight'! Pick a guy!)
